Today, I want to take a deeper dive into what I call the secret to my success. It's a simple philosophy called, "Let's get rich together."

I wish I could say I invented it, but I didn't; it was a business partnership approach that was handed to me by the great people at Phillips Publishing (now InvestorPlace).

You see, they didn't see their contract copywriters as vendors but as business partners. Getting rich together was simply the philosophy that everybody would make money. This was how every copywriter was incentivized with royalties and commissions on every email, direct mail, or video sales letter or landing page they wrote.

And boy, did that change my life.

I was not like a writer at an insurance company having to write a zillion brochures for barely a living wage. No, I was a trusted business partner that was incentivized to create the best marketing I could—and was compensated for it.

Now, I have to say there was a catch.

The catch was that my email, direct mail, or landing page would have to compete with others in an A/B test. The winner of which would collect the royalties and commissions when it was rolled out.

So, it wasn't just a freebie they were handing you. It was an opportunity to, as they would say, "Let's get rich together." I can't tell you how much that changed my life. Which is why I averaged over $250,000 a year for 30 years, $400,000 a year for 20 of those years, and $500,000 for 10 of those years.

Without that incentive-based work, I might have averaged $75,000 a year, maybe, just maybe topping out at $100,000, and I would have worked a whole lot harder for less money.

The best part:

I absolutely loved what I did. Love. I wrote subscription promotions for investment newsletters and stock trading services as if I were the guru. It combined storytelling and sales in a way that embodied who I was. It was FUN.

The most fun part about my experience was that I figured out how I could win these A/B tests against the top talent in the business nearly 80% of the time.

Not only that, I figured out how I could then build a royalty moat around my clients that the competition simply could not penetrate.

I don't mean to boast, but the other writers never knew what hit them.Honestly, it was like taking candy from a baby. All of it started with the simple philosophy of "Let's Get Rich Together."

When you approach life as a collaborator working for the benefit of everyone, you really can't lose. That collaboration part is what then brings new clients and more money to you. It's really a win/win philosophy with a different name that really strikes at what everyone wants—to get rich.

When you break it down, this philosophy is very similar to the great motivator, Zig Ziglar's, "You can have everything you want in life if you help enough people get what they want."

I would add one thing to that: "First." With the philosophy of helping them first, you show how much you are committed to the combined goals of everyone.
